Apple iPhone SE(2020) Launch Date

Apple has launched its new smaller iPhone- Apple iPhone SE (2020) on April 15, 2020. The iPhone SE 2020 is introduced as the most affordable iPhone model in Apple's current lineup and it is the successor of iPhone SE that was introduced back in 2016.

Apple iPhone SE 2020 has a 4.7-inch Retina HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 750x1334 pixels, 625 nits peak brightness, Haptic Touch and True Tone tech to adjust white balance. There is also support for Dolby Vision and HDR10. The phone still retains the Touch ID fingerprint sensor below the display.

The new iPhone SE 2020 is powered by A13 Bionic chip that powers iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. It comes in three variants of storage that includes 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

For photos and videos, the iPhone SE 2nd generation has a single 12MP rear camera (f/1.8 aperture + OIS) with a LED True Tone flash with Slow Sync.  It is protected by a sapphire crystal. It offers 4K video recording at up to 60fps,  Portrait mode and Smart HDR for photos. On the front, the iPhone sports a 7MP camera sensor with an f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calls.

The iPhone SE 2020 bears a glass body and aluminum frame. It measures 138.4x67.3x7.3mm and weighs 148 grams.

The battery capacity is unknown but the report says that it packs the same battery as in iPhone 8 that was released as the successor to the iPhone 7 in September 2017. It is said to last up to 13 hours of video playback time, and 40 hours of audio playback time. It supports fast charging, as well as wireless charging.

Apple iPhone SE (2020) has connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Wi-Fi calling, NFC, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Lightning port. Sensors on the new iPhone include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, three-axis gyroscope, and a proximity sensor.

iPhone SE 2020 features an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, which means it can survive immersion in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack. The new iPhone also has the Touch ID button — instead of the Face ID support.

Apple iPhone SE 2020 comes in three variants of colors- Black, White, and PRODUCT(RED).

The Phone SE (2020) price in India starts at Rs. 42,500 for the 64GB storage version, the 128GB storage variant costs Rs. 47,800 and the 256GB storage version is priced at Rs. 58,300. It will be available through Apple Authorized Resellers soon in India. 

Apple iPhone SE (2020) price in the US starts at $399. For the 128GB storage version, the price is set at $449 and the highest variant 256GB storage model costs $549 in the US.

Pre-orders start from 5 pm PDT on April 17, and it will go on sale from April 24 in the US.
