The finding was published in the journal, based on an analysis of data from studies involving 1.4 million adults in the USA, Europe, and Asia.
Participants were divided into five groups, according to the amount of fiber and yogurt they consumed.
Participants with the highest amount of yogurt and fiber consumption had a 33% reduced lung cancer risk as compared to the group who did not consume/less consuming yogurt and fiber-rich food.
senior author Xiao-Ou Shu, professor at the Vanderbilt University in the USA Says, "Our study provides strong evidence supporting the US 2015-2020 Dietary Guideline recommending a high fiber and yogurt diet".
Additionally, She said, "This inverse association was robust, consistently seen across current, past and never smokers, as well as men, women, and individuals with different backgrounds".
The benefits of a high fiber and yogurt diet for cardiovascular disease and gastrointestinal cancer have already been established. And now this study recommends that Yogurt and Fiber diet can protect against Lung Cancer too.
