Lokesh Rahul joins Rahul Dravid, Gundappa Viswanath in elite list with 6 successive Test fifties

Lokesh Rahul became the third Indian and 25th overall to score six successive half-centuries in Test cricket during India's second match against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Rahul had to sit out of the opening Test in Galle with a flu but replaced Abhinav Mukund on Thursday and made an immediate impact with a quick 57 before being run out after lunch.

The 25-year-old Rahul has been India's most reliable opener along with Murali Vijay but injuries have often kept him out of action.

The Karnataka batsman suffered a major heartbreak late last year when he fell for 199 against England in the Chennai Test in December. Since then, he endured an ordinary time against Bangladesh in the one-off Test but came back strongly in the four-Test series against Australia, smashing six fifties in seven innings -- five of which were scored one after another.

When KL Rahul made 199 against England at Chennai in Dec 2016, he then had 4 100s & 1 fifty in Tests.
Now he has 4 100s, 8 fifties!

In Colombo, Rahul continued his good form and joined his Karnataka teammates Dravid and Viswanath in an elite list.
